Iran actor, director win Venice side event awards

Iran actor Homayoun Ershadi and director Anahid Abad have been praised with awards in side event at prestigious Venice fest currently underway in Italy.

The star of many ifilm series such as 'Queen' and '5-star' received the Marco Polo Project Award of Blue Knowledge after screening of 'Yeva' by Abad on the sidelines of the 76th Venice International Film Festival.

The director was granted the same award for the flick selected as 2018 Armenia's Oscar entry for the Best International Feature Film.

'Yeva’ narrates the story of a young woman forced to leave Yerevan as she has to go on trial there for allegedly murdering her husband.

The 76th annual Venice International Film Festival is currently being held from 28 August to 7 September 2019 in Italy.
